As fall is setting in, what better way to celebrate my favorite season than to host a Beerstitution in its honor! As the theme was not to strict, we had the opportunity to try a whole lot of different type of beers, some good, some okay, some terrible (looking at you Ale-O-Ween). And what’s better to get in the mood than to kick off the night with a grilled cheese bar ?
Ok, now let’s take a look at the beers

Saison – Loop – 3.5% – Geneva
First of all, this company has great values and their idea to use food waste to create drinks is amazing. Unfortunately, this beer was not amazing. It tasted more like a Ginger soda than a real beer
BRSTº Rating: 2.4/5

Gros Pin (Irish Red) – La Souche – 5% – Val
Even though this beer was so on theme (what’s more representing of fall than a tree dying !?) our group hatred for red beers got the upper hand. Nice design, nice can, but meh beer
BRSTº Rating: 2.1/5

Vienna Lager – Vrooden – 5.5% – Sandra
It’s a lager. There is not much more to say. It is not terrible. Not amazing. Just a lager.
BRSTº Rating: 3.1/5

Mascarade (IPA) – Benelux – 6% – Dan
More of a summery vibe, but it’s the perfect way to get into Fall. First of all, the logo looks a bit like a mix between Mad Men and Bird Man. Second of all THIS BEER IS GOOD. Geneva called it her new favorite kind of beer and Corey graced us with those amazing words : “ Godamn I love this beer”
BRSTº Rating: 4.4/5

Double IPA – Glutenberg – 7% – Geneva
It’s a millet beer which gave us those awesome quotes :
- Fall Harvest par excellence – Geneva
- I don’t think I’ve ever though “ooo this barley, ooo yeah !” – Dan
- I love the Steve Millet band – Jones
Overall it was a good beer
BRSTº Rating: 3.5/5

Ale-O-Ween (pumpkin beer) – Trèfle noir – 7% – Kristen
We had the privilege (not) to try this beer twice as we had cans and bottles, but the two beers didn’t taste the same. Lucky us. The smell out of the can was similar to urine as the smell from the bottle reminded us more of Pumpkin pie. Overall, this was not a favorite, bottled or canned.
BRSTº Rating: 0.9/5

Brett Cassis – Oshlag – 7% – can’t remember who brought it.
The color was a bit off and the brett seemed to have left the bottle … it was not a winner.
BRSTº Rating: 2.1/5

Petite Mort (Stout imperial) – Dunham – 11% – Jones
The perfect beer to finish the night. It made me really happy. It was the stout of stouts, coffee, chocolate, just the perfect mix (to my taste maybe not to others).
BRSTº Rating: 3.6/5
